Hardest challenge: No buy!

With a trip to Florence in my future I really need to save more money. But if here's something I'm terrible at it's saving money.. So I had sort of agreed with myself not to buy anything until my birthday, which is on the 26th of June. As I was reading up on blogs on Bloglovin I read a blogpost on Beautyfreak saying she is also going to have a no buy. So as of this moment on I am not allowed to buy any beauty products for one whole month. Worst part: I included nailpolish!

This used to be my stash..

Over the past year I developed a huge nailpolish addiction and I have bought more polishes than I could ever wear. Though I am nowhere near the amount of polishes Esther from Beautyfreak has (over a 1000!) I did reach a fair amount. Esther included a polish challenge as well, to wear 25 different polishes within the time of the no buy. I will do this as well since I have a box filled with untrieds and I am sure there's at least 25 polishes in there.

Here's what holds my nailpolishes now

The main goals for me here are:
- Finally using all the untried polishes
- Using my make-up more, discover what I have
- Throwing out products I really don't use any more (or give them away)
- Saving money for Florence
- Learning I don't need to have everything I like

Old make-up stash photo

Of course I will have some exceptions to the no buy, I can't run out of vital beauty stuff!
- Cotton pads
- Face wipes

- Moisturizer
- Polish remover

I've tried no buys before and they never worked out for me, but I have a really good feeling about it this time. Don't worry, I have plenty of things that I can show you without buying new products! Oh and also on the 30th of June I will have a post up of the 25 nailpolishes I've worn throughout this no buy month.

Have you ever done a no buy? If so please share your story and tips in the comments!

I am back and I'm all Lovie Dovie!

Hello there beautiful!

Yes I am back from being gone far too long.
"But.. Why did you abandon us for so long?"

Well to be short and frank about it: I got sick and tired of my own blog.
I just didn't like it at all, couldn't be bothered with it and the uploading and editing of pictures was getting all annoying so I decided to give it a break. Besides I had the feeling that gazillion beautyblogs were popping up out of nowhere, pretty much all with the same subjects and products so I felt unnecessary.

How ever! I have been dying to get back to it, so that's what I did. I gave my blog the make-over it deserved (I mean.. those dark colours were SO fall/winter!) and have something fun to share with you.

Have you ever heard of Essie nail polishes? I had but for a long time I was only able to buy them online with a price tag of €13,- and added shipping costs. So I never bought any because I thought that was a bit much.
Lucky for me they now sell Essie in a few drugstores here in Holland with a slightly better price tag of €9,99 This week Etos even has a €2,- discount. So I went ahead and treated myself to a few.

Left to right: Lovie Dovie, In Stitches, Chocolate Cakes and Sew Psyched.

Lovie Dovie is a creamy bubblegum pink. This might sound unbelievable to some but I honestly did not have a bubblegum pink in my stash yet! It's really cute, in real life it is slightly brighter. Big plus: it makes my hands look more tan. Picture of me wearing this is somewhere below, it just really doesn't do the colour justice.

In Stitches is an dirty rosy pink. What I love most about it is that it's pink, but not really. I wore this one and it lasted up to 4 whole days without chipping. Only needed two coats. I love it!

Chocolate Cakes is a vampy brown with a red undertone. So far my stash also lacked brown colours so I thought I'd give this one a try. It looked interesting to me and I hope it really looks like liquid chocolate on my nails.

Sew Psyched is one of those polishes I had on my wishlist since the first time I saw swatches of it floating around the internet. It was the last bottle in the display so I grabbed it as fast as I could. It's a greyish green colour with silver micro shimmer in it. A very strange yet beautiful colour, definitely a unique one in my stash.

Here's Lovie Dovie on my nails

base coat, 2 coats Lovie Dovie, 2 coats top coat

So like I said this picture doesn't do the colour (nor my skintone!) any justice. The polish looks very pale and so do my fingers... In real life it is a lot more vibrant. I cannot stop looking at my nails, I love this colour so much! Application was real nice and smooth, too bad my top coat is old and thick so it caused some bubbles ):

Fun facts for my Dutch readers:

Essie nailpolishes are now available at Etos and DA and cost €9,99 a bottle.
They only have a 100 different shades but trust me, there is something for every taste.

Have a wonderful day! Oh and please tell me,

What is your absolute favourite colour to wear on your nails?

A big announcement!!!

I have to be honest with you all.
Lately I don't feel very passionate about this blog any more. I do still have a big love and passion for make-up and nail polish, but blogging about it feels like something I HAVE to do instead of something I like to do.
So that is why my posts have been short and a little boring.
Having a beautyblog is pretty difficult because there are sooo many out there already and a lot of them are a lot better than mine.
This does NOT mean that I'm permanently quitting this blog, it just means that I am putting it on hold.
I will post here if I have something good to share and something interesting to tell you.

On the positive side: I started a new blog! One that is more personal and versatile. I didn't want to be restricted by just Make-up and I wanted to see if I can improve my writing. Just one downside for my abroad readers: it will be in Dutch. Because I still feel that I can't always completely explain myself in English. And my Dutch needs a lot of improvement (A)

So to all the Dutchies and the people that don't mind using a translater, go follow me here!

You know you want to! ^^

Also I still have stuff laying around for a give away, but I keep forgetting this!
In the beginning I didn't do it because I barely got comments to I figured everyone was still on holiday. After that I just forgot.. Yes, I suck!
I'm not making any promises, but I will be doing this one soon so do stay tuned (:

Behind the scenes snapshots

I have no idea how to call this, nor do I know if I will do it frequently.
But I've done it before and since I got a few beauty related pictures on my phone I though I'd share ^^

Budapest in print

Hi there!

After reading the comments by two lovely girls on my previous blogpost I felt a lot better.
They immediately made me want to post this so here we go!
I'll share some pictures and stories of my stay in Budapest, my new favorite city (:

I lost my virginity

Well in a way I did.

It all started one night when I was a little drunk.

My Birthday Presents (:

First of all I would like to say that I had the best Birthday of my life! I had a party on Saturday night with a bunch of friends at my place and then we hit the town afterwards. I had a blast and I don't remember dancing and laughing this much. I would like to thank everyone that made this the best birthday of my life and definitely a very memorable night!
On Sunday I had some family over and I spend half the day sobering up from the night before (:

Sunday was my official birthday, so of course there was cake!

And here are the awesome presents I got. I love them all!!!!

I'd like to introduce...

My Converse All Stars! (:

I might be completely wrong when I say this but almost everyone owns or has owned at least one pair of All Stars. Not everyone has the "original" Converse All Stars, but something similar will do as well.
I myself have two pairs of Converse All Stars and two pair of cheap ass knock offs. The only difference between the Converse and the fake ones is that my Converse have been with me through my teens and they have certainly seen me do some weird stuff. Also back then I had the weird habit of writing on my shoes, something I don't do anymore. (Too bad!)

Read on to see more pictures and to read the story behind my shoes.

Sometimes....

Hey guys,

I have an anouncement to make.
Last night I spilled my drink on my laptop and so far it hasn't turned back to life.
I have no clue how long it'll take or whatever so I'm not sure when I can put a new post up.
For now I have to use a regular computer and I pretty much forgot how most things work on here :P
Hopefully I'll be able to put up posts on a regular base!

Love,

Nana

Hair colors!

Lately I'm really having a hard time with my hair color.
I like it, but it's too plain.
I've dyed it a couple of times all ready, I've been a red head, had black hair, blond streaks and even lighter hair.
So yes, plain brown is pretty hard for me, especially when I see all those awesome hair colors out there!

Today I saw a post on a Dutch blog I follow for quite a while. A very beautiful girl with almost black hair.
She went blond! And my gosh she looks so amazing! I am both stunned and jealous...
Check *here* for the post and picture, search through her blog for a before pic if you like.

I'm really having a hard time not to do the most drastic thing I've ever done! Instead, I'll share some pictures of hair colors I either really like or don't like so much. After that you guys can help me decide.

Snapshots!

I was removing pictures from my phone to put them on my laptop. While I was going through them I figured I'd share some of them with you. I've seen it on a couple of other blogs and I personally really like to have a little peek into some one else's life. The pictures are from last year to a few weeks ago.
I have quite a few of them, hopefully you don't mind (:

Nana's Music: New Faves

So at the moment I have a few new favorite songs I listen to. Songs I can play over and over again.
Just like almost everybody else I cannot go a day without music. And I have a lot of music, so sometimes I just have a hard time figuring out what I want to listen to. Mostly I start off with the same songs every time and go from there (:

Sit back and enjoy Nana's current faves!

Girls and Tattoos

Tattoos. Something that most people have an opinion about.
Some people hate it, some people like them but on others and some love them.
I personally really like tattoos, especially when they have a story behind them.
But some are just really gorgeous to look at.

I'm not sure when I got the idea that I wanted a tattoo myself, I think around the age of 14/15.
I've had millions of ideas throughout the years. For example I wanted a little crown in my neck. Glad I got over that!
Eventually, at the age of 20, I've narrowed it down to three choices:
- A black heart on my left lower arm, on the inside. So whenever I look down at it I would be reminded that there is so much more love in my life then I can sometimes see or feel.
- A dream is a wish your heart makes. It's something I can't ever get off my mind. It's one of my very favorite songs to sing and I started to believe in it. Besides.. a tattoo of Little town, it's a quiet village is a bit weird!
- A lotus flower, one like Nana Osaki has in the anime NANA. That series has really done something to me. I feel like I can relate to it on more than one level. But just putting the word NANA on my body doesn't really do it for me. That lotus flower was a symbol of love to Nana Osaki, and it's really pretty.

Found this via google
Keep on reading to see more girlie tattoos and gorgeous pictures. Get inspired or just enjoy looking at them.
I have to warn you, there will be LOADS of pictures (:

My biggest fears

Everyone has at least one. Not everyone likes to admit it though.

Fears are there in many different forms, from very common to a bit odd.

Fear from the Greek: φόβος,phóbos, meaning "fear" or "morbid fear", is a distressing negative emotion induced by a perceived threat. It is a basic survival mechanism occurring in response to a specific stimulus, such as pain or the threat of danger. In short, fear is the ability to recognize danger and flee from it or confront it.

My fears are quite common. I think most of them are shared with tons of other people. For some there are even special therapies to overcome them. The pictures I used are all found on weheartit.

Nana's Music

So I was inspired to do this post after seeing quite a few other blogs doing this. And I would actually like to share my music taste with you guys. Since it's really versatile and a little bit of everything all rolled into one? No not really, but that just popped into my head. So you guys sit back and relax, I understand you won't listen to every song I put on here. But I'll do my best to show you my versatility.
